Ashwin’s Reflections on His Journey Ahead of His 100th Test
As the second-most successful bowler in Indian Test history, Ravichandran Ashwin, with 507 Test wickets at an average of 23.91, continues to reach new heights. In the current series, the veteran surpassed Indian legend Anil Kumble’s record for most Test wickets and most five-wicket hauls in India.
In Dharamsala, Ashwin is set to mark another milestone by becoming the 14th Indian to feature in 100 Tests. Despite the significance of the occasion, the 37-year-old views it as just another match. With India leading 3-1, the focus remains on securing important World Test Championship points.
During the press conference ahead of the Test, Ashwin emphasized the importance of maintaining India’s winning streak. He acknowledged the significance of the occasion but stressed that the approach to the game remains unchanged. He also reflected on his 13-year Test cricket journey, expressing gratitude for the lessons learned and the experiences gained.

Ashwin highlighted India’s last Test series defeat at home, against England in 2012, as a pivotal moment in his career. Despite taking 14 wickets in the four-Test series, doubts about his place in the side led him to introspect and improve his game.
He also shared his three most memorable spells in Test cricket, two of which were in Tests away from home. He credited his early experiences in Indian domestic cricket, both at the club and Ranji level, for honing his skills before his international debut.
