Bangladesh Enlists Pakistan Legend for Coaching Ahead of T20 World Cup
Mushtaq Ahmed, the renowned Pakistani cricketer, is set to join the Bangladesh Men’s team as the spin bowling coach. His tenure will commence with the T20I series against Zimbabwe and will extend until the conclusion of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, to be held in the West Indies and USA.
Ahmed brings a wealth of coaching experience to the table, having previously served as the spin bowling coach for England (2008-2014), West Indies (2018-19), and Pakistan (2020-22).
Given the spin-friendly conditions expected at the West Indies and USA for the T20 World Cup, Ahmed’s expertise will be a crucial asset for the Bangladesh team in the lead-up to the 20-team event.
“Being a part of the Bangladesh cricket team as a spin bowling coach is a great honour for me,” Mushtaq Ahmed expressed in a statement released by BCB.
“I am eager to take on this role and share my experience with the players. They are very coachable, and I firmly believe that they are one of the most formidable teams around. They possess the capability, resources, and talent to defeat any team. My aim is to instill this belief in them. I am thrilled about the opportunity to work with the team.”
As part of their preparation for the upcoming T20 World Cup, Bangladesh will host Zimbabwe in five T20Is starting next month.
