Cricket Icons and New York Sports Stars Unveil Nassau County International Cricket Stadium
Usain Bolt, the world-renowned sprinter, was joined by USA cricketers Corey Anderson and Monank Patel, cricket legend Sir Curtly Ambrose (West Indies), Shoaib Malik (Pakistan), and Liam Plunkett (England) for an exclusive preview of the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium.
Adding to the glamour of the event were New York sports stars John Starks (NBA / New York Knicks), Elena Delle Donne (WNBA/USA), Bartolo Colon (MLB/New York Yankees-Mets), Victor Cruz (NFL/New York Giants), and Ibtihaj Muhammad (Fencing/USA).
The stars marked the occasion by signing a giant cricket bat, which will be displayed at the venue throughout the eight ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 matches scheduled between 3-12 June.

The event kick-starts the final countdown to the first ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 in New York, with Sri Lanka and South Africa set to inaugurate the venue’s first match on 3 June.
Bolt expressed his excitement about the venue, predicting it would deliver an energetic cricket experience. He also highlighted the significance of hosting one of cricket’s biggest events in the USA, seeing it as a stepping stone towards cricket’s inclusion in the LA Olympics in 2028.
The new stadium, according to Bolt, is going to be a fantastic place to watch from, with its enclosed design making spectators feel very close to the action. He anticipates a high-energy atmosphere when cricket fans flock to Nassau County International Stadium next month.
T20 USA Inc., CEO Brett Jones hailed the event as a fitting welcome to cricket in the USA, expressing his delight at having Usain Bolt and a host of New York sports stars and Olympic legends experience the stadium.
The 34,000-seater temporary stadium is the first of its kind in international cricket, and is also believed to be the largest ever constructed in the United States.
The unveiling showcased extensive hospitality and media pavilions on the north and south ends of the venue, along with the east and west general admission stands. The stadium is one of the three venues in the USA for the upcoming mega-event, with Florida and Texas also set to host matches.
The USA are co-hosts for the event alongside the West Indies, where 39 matches will be played across six venues. The Final will be held on 29 June in Barbados.
Limited general admission tickets remain available for the opening match in New York, and tickets inclusive of food and beverage are also available for all games in Nassau County, including India against Pakistan.
