Cricket News: Injury Forces Change in Sri Lanka’s Squad for Second Test
Sri Lanka’s fast bowler, Kasun Rajitha, is set to miss the upcoming second Test match against Bangladesh in Chattogram due to an injury to his upper back.
Rajitha will return home for rehabilitation, and his place in the squad will be taken by 26-year-old right-arm pacer, Asitha Fernando.
Initially, Fernando was ruled out of the first Test due to an injury and was expected to miss the entire series. However, his recovery has been quicker than anticipated, and he will now join the rest of the squad.
Fernando, who has claimed 41 wickets in 13 Test matches, last played in the one-off Test against Afghanistan.
Kasun Rajitha was at his very best with the new ball.
The absence of Rajitha is a significant setback for Sri Lanka, who recently registered their first win of the ICC World Test Championship cycle in Sylhet last week. Rajitha had played a crucial role in the victory, taking five wickets in the second innings of the Test match.
The second Test match in Chattogram is scheduled to begin on March 30.
