Hong Kong and Oman Triumph to Secure Semi-Final Berths

In the ICC U19 Men’s World Cup Asia Division 2 Qualifier, Hong Kong and Oman emerged victorious in their respective matches, thereby securing their places in the semi-finals. The sixth day of the tournament, held in Bangkok, marked the end of the Group B matches.

While Hong Kong defeated Saudi Arabia by seven wickets, Oman maintained their winning streak with a third consecutive victory, this time against Bhutan.

Saudi Arabia, despite a commendable last-wicket partnership of 52, could only manage a total of 133. Hong Kong, however, chased down the target with ease, losing only three wickets in the process. Meanwhile, Oman held off Bhutan to win by three wickets after Bhutan had reached 141 in their 50 overs.

The match between Saudi Arabia and Hong Kong was a decisive one, with the winner securing a semi-final spot alongside Oman. Saudi Arabia, after winning the toss, elected to bat first. Despite a promising start by captain Rayyan Khan, the team could only manage a total of 133.

On the other hand, Hong Kong’s chase was led by Shiv Mathur, who scored an unbeaten 63 in 63 balls, helping his team reach the target in 25.4 overs. Hong Kong’s victory by seven wickets sets them up for a semi-final clash against Kuwait.

Oman vs Bhutan match

At the same time, Oman continued their winning run against Bhutan. Winning the toss and choosing to bowl first, Oman restricted Bhutan to a total of 141 for 7 in 50 overs. Despite a spirited fight from Bhutan, Oman chased down the target, securing a three-wicket victory.

Oman’s victory, their third in a row, ensures their place in the semi-finals, where they will face Malaysia.

With the semi-final line-up now confirmed, the tournament is set to enter its most exciting phase. The matches between Hong Kong and Kuwait, and Oman and Malaysia, promise to be thrilling encounters, as the teams vie for a place in the final.
