ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier 2024: Groups and Fixtures Announced
The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier 2024 is set to take place next month at two venues in Abu Dhabi — Tolerance Oval and Zayed Cricket Stadium. Ten teams will vie for two spots in the main event, scheduled to be held in Bangladesh later in the year.
The top six teams from the T20 World Cup in 2023 in South Africa – Australia, South Africa, England, India, New Zealand, and the West Indies – have secured direct qualification for the 20-over showcase. Bangladesh, as hosts, and Pakistan, due to their position in the MRF Tyres ICC Women’s T20I Team Rankings, have also qualified.
The Global Qualifier will feature 10 teams: Ireland, Netherlands, Scotland, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Uganda, UAE, USA, Vanuatu, and Zimbabwe.
The tournament will run from April 25 to May 7, with the 10 teams divided into two groups of five.
Group A: Sri Lanka, Thailand, Scotland, Uganda, USA
Group B: Ireland, Zimbabwe, Netherlands, UAE, Vanuatu
A total of 20 matches will be played during the Group stage, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the semi-finals. Both finalists will secure a spot in the main event.
Each venue will host a day game and a night match during the Group stage, completing 20 contests in five days. The final will be played at the Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi on May 7.
