NEW DELHI: As the IPL 2025 season unfolds, Mumbai Indians’ batting coach Kieron Pollard has come out in strong support of the team’s captain and India’s skipper, Rohit Sharma, despite his slow start to the tournament. Rohit, who has accumulated only 21 runs across his first three innings, is yet to hit his stride in the competition.
However, Pollard, a long-time teammate and close ally of Rohit, has reminded everyone of the opener’s illustrious career and recent achievements. He is a legend of the game in his own right,
Pollard stated, as quoted by the ICC. He has forged his name in history across formats and situations. A couple of low scores don’t define him.
Rohit entered the IPL on the back of a triumphant Champions Trophy campaign, where he played a pivotal role, scoring a match-winning 76 in the final against New Zealand. This performance underscored his ability to deliver under pressure on the international stage.
Pollard emphasized that Rohit deserves the space to find his form without the burden of undue pressure. He has earned the right to enjoy his cricket now and not be pressurized. Let’s not judge too quickly. We’ll be singing his praises again soon enough,
he added.
As Mumbai Indians gear up for a crucial upcoming fixture, all eyes will be on Rohit to rediscover his form and lead his team from the front, a role he has fulfilled with distinction on numerous occasions throughout his career.
