IPL 2025: Lucknow Super Giants Aim for Home Victory Against Punjab Kings – Can Rishabh Pant Deliver?

LUCKNOW – The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are set to host Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the Ekana International Stadium on Tuesday, aiming to secure their first home victory of the IPL 2025 season. After a narrow one-wicket defeat in their season opener against Delhi Capitals in Vizag, LSG bounced back with a convincing five-wicket win over Sunrisers Hyderabad, thanks to stellar performances from Nicholas Pooran (70 runs), Mitchell Marsh (55 runs), and Shardul Thakur (4/34).

LSG’s top order, led by the explosive duo of Marsh and Pooran, laid a solid foundation in their last match. However, skipper Rishabh Pant, who was the most expensive buy in last year’s IPL auction at Rs 27 crore, has yet to make a significant impact with the bat. With the home crowd behind him, Pant will be eager to justify his price tag and lead his team to victory.

Abdul Samad also made a notable contribution with a quickfire eight-ball 22 against SRH, while Shardul Thakur, stepping in for Mohsin Khan, has impressed with his bowling. LSG’s strategy includes deploying three spinners on the slow Ekana pitch, with Ravi Bishnoi expected to play a crucial role.

On the other side, Punjab Kings will rely on their seasoned leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal to lead their spin attack, supported by the all-round skills of Glenn Maxwell. This match will also feature a fascinating battle between the IPL’s most expensive and second-most expensive players, Pant and Shreyas Iyer, who recently showcased his prowess with an unbeaten 97 off 42 balls against Gujarat Titans.

As LSG and PBKS prepare to clash, all eyes will be on Rishabh Pant to see if he can rise to the occasion and steer his team to a much-needed home win.
