Ireland Fined for Slow Over-Rate in Third Women’s ODI Against India

Media Release

In a recent development from the ICC Women’s Championship series, the Ireland women’s cricket team has been fined 10 percent of their match fee due to a slow over-rate during the third ODI against India, held in Rajkot on Wednesday.

The penalty was imposed by G S Lakshmi, a member of the Emirates ICC International Panel of Match Referees, after Ireland was found to be two overs short of the target, even after accounting for time allowances.

According to Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which addresses minimum over-rate offences, players incur a fine of five percent of their match fee for each over their team fails to bowl within the allotted time.

Ireland’s captain, Gaby Lewis, admitted to the offence and accepted the proposed sanction, thereby negating the need for a formal hearing.

The charge was brought forward by on-field umpires Kim Cotton and Akshay Totre, along with third umpire Virender Sharma and fourth umpire Vrinda Rathi.
