James Anderson Bids Adieu to Test Cricket: A Remarkable Era Ends
James Anderson, the most successful fast bowler in the history of Test cricket, has announced his retirement, with his final Test match for England scheduled for July.
The seasoned speedster, who achieved the extraordinary feat of 700 Test wickets during the Dharamsala Test against India earlier this year, made the announcement via social media.

“The feeling of representing England will be greatly missed. However, I believe it’s the right time to step back and allow others to live their dreams, just as I did. There’s no greater joy,” Anderson expressed in his post.
At the age of 41, Anderson’s Test cricket career spans over two decades, making him one of the most revered bowlers the format has ever witnessed. He made his Test debut at the iconic Lord’s in 2003 and has since claimed 700 wickets in 187 Tests.
“A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has stood by me over the years. Your support has always meant the world to me, even if my expressions may not always reflect it. See you at the Test,” he added.
England is set to host West Indies for a three-match ICC World Test Championship series in July, with the first Test taking place at Lord’s.
