Kamindu Mendis and Maia Bouchier Crowned ICC Players of the Month for March
Sri Lanka’s Kamindu Mendis and England’s Maia Bouchier have been named the ICC Men’s and Women’s Players of the Month for March, following their exceptional performances in international cricket.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the winners of the ICC Men’s and Women’s Player of the Month awards for March 2024, following the shortlists that were revealed last week.
Kamindu Mendis: ICC Men’s Player of the Month
Kamindu Mendis clinched the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award after his historic batting performance in the ICC World Test Championship match against Bangladesh in Sylhet, leading Sri Lanka to a comfortable victory.
Maia Bouchier: ICC Women’s Player of the Month
England’s Maia Bouchier bagged the ICC Women’s Player of the Month award, thanks to her remarkable performance in the T20I series in New Zealand, which saw England secure a decisive 4-1 series win in March.
Mendis’s Historic Performance
Mendis, despite a quiet start to the month, turned the tables with a memorable performance in the first Test match in Sylhet. His controlled batting, scoring his first Test century, helped Sri Lanka post a respectable opening total and eventually seal a victory by 328 runs. Mendis became the first player batting at number seven or lower to hit two centuries in a single Test.
Mendis’s Reaction
Upon receiving the award, Mendis expressed his happiness and gratitude, considering it an inspiration for his international career. He also wished the best for the other nominees, Mark Adair and Matt Henry.
Bouchier’s Stellar Performance
Bouchier, on the other hand, amassed 223 runs at an average of 55.75 from her five T20I matches during the month, guiding England to a memorable series win with her explosive performances.
