Netherlands to Host Ireland and Scotland in Tri-Series Ahead of T20 World Cup
As a precursor to the T20 World Cup, Ireland and Scotland are scheduled to tour the Netherlands for a tri-nation T20I series in May. The series will commence from 18 May and conclude on 24 May in Amstelveen, following which the teams will head to the USA and the West Indies for the T20 World Cup.
Previous T20 World Cup Performances
In the last T20 World Cup held in Australia in 2022, all three teams participated in the first round of matches, which was divided into two groups of four teams each. The top two teams from each group advanced to the Super 12s. However, Scotland could not qualify after finishing third in Group B.
Ireland managed to secure a victory over the eventual champions, England, by a margin of five runs on the DLS method. On the other hand, the Netherlands won two matches, including a significant victory that ousted South Africa from the tournament.

Significance of the Tri-Series
High Performance officials from all three nations have expressed the importance of this series in refining their preparations for the upcoming T20 World Cup.
Roland Lefebvre, High Performance Manager KNCB, expressed his excitement about hosting the Tri-Series as part of their preparation for the T20 World Cup. He highlighted the global reach of the event, with more than a billion TV viewers worldwide, and expressed his team’s aim to replicate their success from the 2022 tournament in Australia.
Steve Snell, Cricket Scotland Head of High Performance, emphasized the importance of the series in the lead up to the World Cup. He expressed his satisfaction with the quality and volume of cricket in the leadup to the Men’s T20 World Cup, and noted the Tri-Series as a crucial part of their preparation.
