Ngidi's Epic Comeback: Fit for T20 World Cup 2024?

Proteas Pacer Ngidi Anticipated to Recover from Injury Ahead of T20 World Cup 2024

Proteas pacer, Ngidi, who suffered a lower back injury during the SA20 playoffs last month while representing Paarl Royals, is expected to recover in time for the T20 World Cup 2024. The injury has led to his withdrawal from the upcoming IPL season with Delhi Capitals and the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

Delhi Capitals have named Australian all-rounder Jake Fraser-McGurk as Ngidi’s replacement. Fraser-McGurk was a member of Australia’s squad during the ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup in South Africa in 2020.

Lungi Ngidi proved to be a formidable player at the T20 World Cup.

Cricket South Africa (CSA) has confirmed that Ngidi is expected to resume playing in a domestic competition in April. This puts him in the running for a spot in the Proteas team for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in the West Indies and USA.

“Ngidi is currently under the watchful eyes of the Cricket South Africa (CSA) medical team and is undergoing rehabilitation with his provincial team, the Momentum Multiply Titans. He is expected to return to play in the second half of the ongoing CSA T20 Challenge in April,” the CSA statement read.

Ngidi was previously sidelined from the T20I series against India in December last year due to a left lateral ankle sprain but made a successful comeback in the final Test of the series.
