As the current captain, Rohit is tasked with leading India to end a trophy drought that extends back to the 2011 Men’s Cricket World Cup.
India has been tantalizingly close to winning major ICC trophies in recent years. Under Rohit’s leadership, the team has consistently demonstrated its potential on the global stage.
Despite falling short in crucial moments, including the semi-final of the 2022 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup and the finals of the ICC World Test Championship 2023 and Cricket World Cup 2023, the focus now shifts to the 2024 Men’s T20 World Cup.

Their relationship came full circle in 2019 when Yuvraj’s final season as an active cricketer was under Rohit’s captaincy at the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League. Yuvraj announced his retirement from all forms of cricket in June 2019.
Yuvraj fondly recalled his initial impression of Rohit, who joined the Indian team at the tender age of 17. He praised Rohit’s humility, camaraderie, and leadership qualities both on and off the field.
