In a notable display of skill and history-making in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, Mumbai Indians’ (MI) opener Rohit Sharma added his name to the prestigious list of batters with 600 fours during a match against Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Saturday.
Though Sharma’s innings was brief, lasting just four balls and contributing 8 runs, it was enough for him to reach the landmark. His dismissal came at the hands of GT’s formidable pacer Mohammed Siraj, who ended Sharma’s short stay in the crease in the first over of MI’s chase. Siraj’s delivery, a sensational length ball that moved in sharply, beat Sharma’s defense and dislodged the off-stump bail, marking a memorable moment in the game.
This was not just another dismissal for Siraj; it was his first success against Sharma in the IPL after 10 previous unsuccessful attempts, showcasing the high stakes and the intensity of the game.
Before his departure, Sharma stroked two consecutive fours, elevating his career total to 601 fours in the IPL, thus becoming the fourth player to breach the 600-fours milestone. The record for the most fours in IPL history is held by Shikhar Dhawan with 768 fours in 222 matches, followed by Virat Kohli with 711 fours in 254 matches, and David Warner with 663 fours in 184 matches. Sharma, with his latest achievement, has now surpassed the 600-fours mark in his 259th match. The top five is completed by former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) star Suresh Raina, who has 506 fours in 205 matches.
