The official trailer of The Test Season 3, chronicling WTC23 Champions Australia, has been released.
The Australian team arrived in the UK for the highly anticipated World Test Championship Final against India. This followed a 2-1 defeat against India in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series, setting the stage for another intense contest between these two modern-day rivals.
Despite a shaky start, the Australian team, led by Steve Smith and Travis Head, managed to turn the tide with a remarkable display of Test match batting.
Travis Head, the Australian batter, was named Player of the Match following his decisive 163-run performance in the first innings of the ICC World Test Championship Final 2023 against India.
Together, Smith and Head rescued Australia from a precarious situation and propelled their team to a commanding total of 468.
In response, the Indian team struggled to convert their starts into significant scores, with Ajinkya Rahane’s composed 89 being the highlight of their innings.
The Australian pacers dominated the Indian batting lineup, accounting for nine of the ten wickets, and bowled India out for 296.
Shubman Gill was deceived by a Scott Boland inswinger, leading to India losing their top two in the ICC World Test Championship 2023 Final.
Despite a better bowling performance in the second innings, India could not overcome the 173-run lead that Australia had established. Australia set a target of 444, which proved to be insurmountable for the Indian team.
India’s chase began steadily but faltered with the loss of quick wickets. The experienced duo of Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane led the recovery, providing a glimmer of hope heading into the final day.
However, the Australian team came out firing on Day 5, and once the set batters fell, the rest of the Indian batting lineup crumbled. Australia bowled India out for 234, clinching the mace and winning the World Test Championship for the first time.
Following their WTC23 victory, Australia quickly shifted their focus to the Ashes series, which commenced just five days later.
Australia managed to pull off a thrilling victory in the opening match, chasing down 281 in the final innings. The second Test was equally captivating, with Australia emerging victorious once again.
Despite trailing 2-0, England staged a remarkable comeback, winning the next two Tests to level the series. However, Australia ultimately claimed the urn in a gruelling and unforgettable series.
Pat Cummins, who played a pivotal role in Australia’s success, reflected on the intense two months of relentless cricket and the captivating off-field drama, all of which will be showcased in Season 3 of The Test.
“There are no greater rivals, and I know people will love taking an inside look at what was going on behind the scenes when season three launches on 24 May,” said Pat Cummins.
“Winning the World Test Championship, which began our UK tour, was a victory the whole squad was enormously proud of. It was and still is a huge goal of ours. And as always, The Ashes brings with it plenty of controversy and defining moments. I am sure people from all walks will enjoy an exclusive look at what happens on and off field during these campaigns.”
