Sri Lanka Suffers Setback as Key Bowler Ruled Out of Decisive Bangladesh ODI
With the three-match ODI series currently tied, each team having claimed a victory, the deciding match is set for Monday (18 March) at Chattogram, the venue for the first two ODIs.

Dilshan Madushanka, Sri Lanka’s key pacer, will not participate further in the ongoing tour. He is set to return home to begin rehabilitation following an injury sustained during the 2nd ODI.

The left-arm pacer had to exit the field during the 27th over of Bangladesh’s innings, after completing 6.4 overs of bowling. The remaining two balls of Madushanka’s incomplete over were bowled by Janith Liyanage.
Sri Lanka Cricket confirmed that Madushanka would commence his rehabilitation after an MRI scan confirmed a left hamstring injury.
“Dilshan Madushanka will not further participate in the ongoing tour as he will return to start rehabilitation work after suffering an injury during the 2nd ODI,” SLC announced on social media.
“Madushanka, who had to leave the field during the second ODI while bowling, has suffered a left hamstring injury, as confirmed by an MRI scan performed on the player.”
Dilshan Madushanka had a successful outing in Mumbai, dismissing top players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill.
The left-arm pacer claimed two wickets in each of the ODIs, including key wickets of Bangladesh opener Litton Das (0) and the series opener’s centurion Najmul Hossain Shanto (40) in the second ODI.
Bangladesh won the first ODI by six wickets, thanks to Shanto’s unbeaten 122. Sri Lanka bounced back in the next match, securing a narrow three-wicket win due to Pathum Nissanka’s composed 114.
Madushanka is expected to be out of action for several weeks. Sri Lanka has not yet announced a replacement.
