Theekshana Achieves Career-Best Third Position in ICC Men’s ODI Bowling Rankings

Sri Lankan spinner Maheesh Theekshana has reached a career-high third position in the ICC Men’s ODI Bowling Rankings. This achievement comes after his impressive performance, taking seven wickets in the last two matches of their three-ODI series against New Zealand, which Sri Lanka won 2-1.
Theekshana climbed four places in the rankings following his remarkable figures of four for 44 in the second match in Hamilton, which New Zealand won by 113 runs, and three for 35 in the third match in Auckland, where Sri Lanka triumphed by 140 runs.
With 663 rating points, Theekshana is just six points behind the top-ranked Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan, who has 669 points. The top four bowlers are closely packed, with India’s Kuldeep Yadav in second place with 665 points and Pakistan’s Shaheen Shah Afridi trailing the trio of spinners with 662 points.
New Zealand’s seam bowler Matt Henry has re-entered the top 10, earning the Player of the Series award for his nine wickets in the series. Meanwhile, left-arm spinner Mitchell Santner has moved up two places to 15th after claiming three wickets in the last two matches.
Sri Lankan fast bowler Asitha Fernando’s Player of the Match performance, with figures of three for 26 in the final match, has propelled him into the top 100.
In the Men’s ODI Batting Rankings, New Zealand’s left-hander Rachin Ravindra has advanced 11 places to 39th after scoring 79 in the second match. Janith Liyanage has also progressed 11 places to 57th following his half-century in the final match. Additionally, New Zealand’s Mark Chapman has entered the top 100 with scores of 62 and 81.
