U19 Cricket World Cup Star Joins Afghanistan ODI Squad
Afghanistan’s cricket team will be missing Mujeeb ur Rahman and Rashid Khan for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Ireland, which kicks off on March 7. Rahman is nursing a right phalanx sprain, while Khan is recovering from back surgery.
These absences have created opportunities in the spin department, leading to the inclusion of Ghazanfar and Nangyal Kharoti in the squad. Ghazanfar, known for his mystery spin, gained recognition at the U19 World Cup, while Kharoti is a promising left-arm spinner.
“Rashid Khan and Mujeeb Ur Rahman are still recovering from their injuries and are not available for selection,” said ACB Chief Selector, Mr. Ahmad Shah Sulimankhil. “However, we have included top-performing youngsters Nangyal Kharoti and Bilal Sami. Allah Mohammad Ghazanfar is a very talented cricketer who demonstrated excellent skills during the U19 World Cup. He will provide cover in Mujeeb Ur Rahman’s absence in the ODI series against Ireland.”
The series, consisting of three matches, will be held in Sharjah. The first match is on March 7, followed by games on March 9 and March 12.
Don’t miss the highlights from Guwahati where the Afghanistan opener hit nine sixes on his way to a scintillating 119 against Sri Lanka.
