In a historic moment during the IPL 2025 clash between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Virat Kohli etched his name into the record books once again. Despite a challenging innings where he scored 31 runs off 30 balls, Kohli managed to surpass Shikhar Dhawan and become the highest run-getter against CSK in IPL history.
Kohli’s latest knock took his overall tally against CSK to 1,084 runs, eclipsing Dhawan’s previous record of 1,057 runs. It took Kohli 33 innings across 34 matches to reach this milestone, while Dhawan had achieved his record in 29 innings. Both players are the only ones to have crossed the 1,000-run mark against CSK in the IPL.
Kohli’s highest score against CSK remains an unbeaten 90, and he has notched up nine half-centuries against them. His runs against CSK have come at an average of 37.37 and a strike rate of 125.46. In comparison, Dhawan’s tally includes a century (101*) and eight fifties.
Following closely behind, Rohit Sharma holds the third spot with 896 runs in 35 matches. Dinesh Karthik and David Warner complete the top five list with 727 runs in 33 matches and 696 runs in 21 matches, respectively.
