West Indies Legend Joins Afghanistan Setup Ahead of T20 World Cup
Dwayne Bravo, a legend of West Indies cricket, has been appointed as the bowling consultant by the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) in the run-up to the Men’s T20 World Cup. Bravo will join the team at their preparation camp. The Afghanistan team has already arrived in St. Kitts and Nevis and is set to commence a 10-day intensive training camp in preparation for the tournament.
Bravo’s international career, which began in 2004 and lasted until 2021, saw him represent the Men in Maroon in 40 Tests, 164 ODIs, and 91 T20Is. The former right-arm fast bowling all-rounder amassed 6423 international runs and claimed 363 wickets.
At 40, Bravo has had a prolific career as a T20 player, both with the West Indies and in franchise cricket. His record of 625 wickets is the highest in the T20 format, with 78 of these wickets coming in T20Is. Bravo, who was part of the West Indies’ T20 World Cup-winning squads in 2012 and 2016, recently served as the bowling coach for the Chennai Super Kings franchise in the IPL.
In the ICC World Twenty20 India 2016, Bravo took 3-37 for West Indies against England, as shown in this Match 35 video.
Afghanistan, who are in Group C of the competition, will face off against hosts West Indies, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, and Uganda. Their opening match is against Uganda in Guyana.
