West Indies Legend Joins Afghanistan Setup for T20 World Cup
Dwayne Bravo, a legendary figure in West Indies cricket, has been appointed as the bowling consultant by the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) in the lead up to the Men’s T20 World Cup. Bravo will join the team during their preparation camp. The Afghanistan team has already arrived in St. Kitts and Nevis and is set to commence a 10-day intensive training camp in preparation for the tournament.
Bravo’s international career began in 2004 and spanned until 2021, during which he represented the Men in Maroon. The former right-arm fast bowling all-rounder played in 40 Tests, 164 ODIs and 91 T20Is, amassing 6423 international runs and claiming 363 wickets.
Bravo, now 40, had a highly successful career as a T20 player, both with the West Indies and in franchise cricket. His tally of 625 wickets is the highest in the T20 format, including 78 wickets in T20Is. Bravo, a key member of the West Indies’ T20 World Cup winning squads in 2012 and 2016, most recently served as the bowling coach for the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL.
In the ICC World Twenty20 India 2016, Bravo delivered a stellar performance against England, taking 3-37 for West Indies in Match 35.
Afghanistan, who are in Group C of the competition, will face hosts West Indies, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, and Uganda. Their first match is against Uganda in Guyana.
