Yashasvi Jaiswal: ICC Men’s Player of the Month for February 2024
Indian cricket sensation, Yashasvi Jaiswal, has outshone New Zealand’s seasoned player Kane Williamson and Sri Lanka’s opener Pathum Nissanka to clinch the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award for February 2024.
With an impressive start to his international career, Jaiswal’s statistics suggest that he is already on his way to becoming one of the world’s top Test openers.
Currently, Jaiswal leads the run-scoring charts in the ongoing cycle of the ICC World Test Championship, thanks to two remarkable double centuries scored in back-to-back Test matches in February.
Jaiswal demonstrated his exceptional form against England in the World Test Championship series at home, scoring a whopping 219 in Vizag in the first innings of the second Test, followed by another double century in the subsequent Test in Rajkot, helping India take the series lead.
His remarkable innings played a crucial role in India’s comeback after a loss in the series’ first Test.
In February, the young Indian opener set several records, including equalling the long-standing Test record for most sixes in a Test innings (12) during his Rajkot knock.

At the age of 22 years and 49 days, his back-to-back double centuries made him the third youngest batter in the world to record two double centuries in Tests, following Sir Donald Bradman and Vinod Kambli.
Jaiswal concluded February with staggering numbers in the three Tests he played — 560 runs at an average of 112, including 20 sixes.
He continued his impressive form into March, reaching the milestone of 1000 Test runs, becoming the second-quickest Indian to achieve this landmark.
“I’m really happy to receive the ICC award and I hope to earn more in the future,” Jaiswal expressed after learning about his win. “This is my first five-match series and it’s been an incredible experience with my teammates. We won the series by 4-1 and I thoroughly enjoyed it.”
Jaiswal considers his unbeaten 214-run knock in Rajkot as his crowning achievement. “When I celebrated my double century in Rajkot, I was truly living in the moment and I enjoyed every bit of it,” he added.
